Anise Seed, also written as aniseed, is the seed from the anise plant, a member of the parsley family. One of the oldest cultivated spices; anise was also first used medicinally for digestive purposes. Anise Seed has a sweet, mild licorice flavor and is used in sausage, sauces, dressings and cookies. It is used often in liqueurs and cordials such as ouzo, Pernod, Ricard, pastis, raki and arrack.
